Such a great campsite!
  • 10 October 2023, 21:56:00

A group of us stayed during the bank holiday weekend and it was everything we could've asked for in a campsite! The scenery around the campsite it beautiful, surrounded by hills. The facilities were great, modern toilet blocks and showers were more than acceptable. We were offered a campfire, logs and kindling by the staff, which most campsites don't offer and it was one of the best parts of the trip. Overall, we had an amazing time, and have already booked to go again! Campsite is suitable for families, a group of friends, whoever really. I'd highly recommend staying here for a lovely trip away.

We absolutely love this campsite
  • 07 September 2023, 14:08:42

Stayed 3 nights August bank holiday weekend. This is our third time staying here (and we will be back next year if they have us) - fairly large group of family, mixture of children and adults plus a dog. We always seem to find space to play games here. We love this place, beautiful surroundings, loads of places to walk, friendly staff and the campers all seem to get on. Its an added bonus having the fire pit as well, everyone loves smors. I would also like to say special thanks to the staff that keep the toilets clean - they do an amazing job considering the amount of people that use them and they always seem to be around! Well done to all the on site staff!

Lovely relaxed site
  • 02 July 2022, 21:22:02

We’ve just spent a couple of days at ACP. We didn’t know what to expect and the rough driveway leading to the site left us wondering. What a pleasant surprise we had as we entered the main camping area. The large first field was very welcoming. We were lucky as it wasn’t too busy so we had plenty of choice for a pitch and we’re able to hook up to an electric point (£1, £2 coins required). We explored the other fields but were quite happy with our choice of pitch. The showers, toilets, washing up point were all excellent. The site is situated in a beautiful valley and it was so enjoyable to experience such a peaceful environment even when a large group of D of E young people arrived, they were very respectful and set off the rolling morning in heavy rain yet all good humoured. Alfreston is a beautiful village, certainly worth spending time exploring, the site is close to the village and there are numerous walks in the area. The ACP staff were so friendly and helpful. We’ve just had a lovely break and will certainly be back.

Terrible service
  • 09 June 2022, 14:29:09

Really not happy with these guys. I booked for the two nights for the upcoming August 2022 bank holiday weekend with another family. Got an email yesterday saying that they have not decided to change their policy to 3 nights and if I didn't want three nights it was tough luck. I explained that I have an autistic son who won't come camping with us so has to stay with his nan's and 2 nights is enough and that out of respect, they should honour my 2 nights. Furthermore, I looked for other campsites in the surrounding area for that weekend and now everything is booked up. They ignored my request and just refunded the deposit. That is poor service. I understand you want to maximise your earnings but maybe you should have had some foresight or waited till next year rather than ruin peoples plans.

Fab campsite
  • 21 August 2021, 12:04:53

Thank you to the staff at ACP for a lovely night away. We wanted a campsite to try out our new backpacking tent. As we visited in peak season and clearly the site is very popular it was busy but the facilities remained spotless with plenty of loo paper and soap and no ques for the toilets as there are plenty of them. We hired a fire pit as well which was great for sitting round taking in the night air. We even had a little walk in to the village to pick up some breakfast supplies at the local deli counter. Perfect location with a relaxed atmosphere, we give it 5 stars and will definitely be back!

What a gem!
  • 05 August 2021, 15:10:36

Clean, spotless bathroom, big dishwashing area, path for dog walking on the edge, spacious and secluded from roads, very friendly staff and at a great price! On top of it amazing Alfriston Village jus next to it. We would come back again and again. 5*

A pleasure to stay here.

Kevin and team couldn’t have been more helpful. I phoned during my thru-hike of the South Downs Way and having done a near 25 mile day. Although a bank holiday weekend and very busy they really did save me having to trek on further which I’m not sure I could have done!! Lovely site, great facilities and very clean. Would love to come back some day and stay longer.

Friendly family camping
  • 08 September 2020, 14:52:44

We had such a great weekend with 3 other families at Alfriston campsite this summer Lovely peaceful site, surrounded by beautiful fields and horses. Lovely space fo the children to explore and Kev the manager was so helpful and friendly. You can have fires (in firepit) and wood is very good price (some places do rip you off!) And, easy walk to Alfriston, with lots of lovely pubs and gorgeous local deli. Highly recommend

Awesome Camping Trip
  • 01 September 2020, 08:59:06

We have just returned from a fabulous camping trip with our friends. There were 12 of us in total (3 families) and I know I can speak on behalf of them all to say we had a great time at Alfriston Camp Site, Kev was a fantastic host, when we arrived we found a spot and he popped over to say hello, point out the facilities, we paid and he gave us a band to attach to the tent so knew when we were paid up until - great system! When we arrived on the Thursday it was very quiet with lots of space, but by the weekend that changed a lot and the site was packed! There were two cubicles with toilets, sometimes a queue but not ever for longer than 5-10 mins. The toilets and showers were both kept clean throughout the day, another camper on site had become unwell (think they'd had a few too many and were sick) but this was cleaned up really quickly, they are tirelessly making sure that everyone is ok, checking if we need logs and kindling for fires (and when we ran out and couldn't see them we made a quick phone call and within minutes someone arrived with some wood!) Cannot fault the staff for attentiveness! Was great to see some solar panels, and the staff go through the rubbish and recycle everything they which is above and beyond in my opinion - not a fun job! We went on a great hike, visited a couple of the local pubs, went swimming in Cuckmere Meanders and the kids spent lots of time on the multiple rope swings! Fantastic! Would definitely visit again!

NO SHOWERS!!
  • 21 August 2020, 18:08:20

I had spoken to the campsite manager several times on the phone about our booking and not once did he mention that the showers were unavailable. it was only until when we arrived at the campsite we were told when we arrived at the campsite that there were no showers...I had spoken to many people there who also weren't told about the showers...? I find this ridiculous! one of the staff said that it was government guidelines however when we tried to search that specific guideline online...there was no such thing! it was a boiling hot weekend and there were around 700 people on the campsite! I know I wasn't the only one who wasn't told...

Peaceful and serene
  • 07 July 2020, 10:55:43

I spent 3 nights here. 2 of them with friends and 1 on my own. This site is so lovely.. right out in the middle of nature. I did not use the facilities at all so cant comment on them obviously. Would happily stay here again and again.

Fab, friendly campsite
  • 28 June 2020, 16:57:27

We have stayed here several times & is our go to site. We only live a few miles away but, still feels like we’re a world away! Turn up, pitch up, relax! Firepits available & the wonderful staff drive round regularly, to see if you need logs/kindling, or just checking you’re ok. Any local info about shops etc, just ask. You can always call Kevin on the camp mobile if necessary. Facilities are great & kept very clean. The village is a short walk away. Can’t wait til the next time (which won’t be long now) oh & Charlie, the much loved, local ice cream man, visits on a regular basis

Fantastic
  • 15 June 2020, 23:32:03

We had the best time and have just booked our first camping trip of 2020. I can not wait to be settled in our bit of the field, listen to the wildlife, toast some marshmallows and breathe.. Campsite facilities were always clean and tidy and access to the town and sea side was purely a bonus.

DofE - Great Experience
  • 28 August 2019, 12:11:32

Our school has stayed here a number of times and it is just great. Very relaxed and the ground is well maintained. The staff are extremely helpful and always willing to go the extra mile to help you out. We are due to come in September for another great DofE camping experience.

Unreal location shame about the staff
  • 11 August 2019, 12:30:32

This is an amazing campsite with heaps of space and good facilities. However, our group was unlucky enough to have pitched right where 300+ ravers would soon set up camp next to. We knew nothing about these plans and was not happy upon their arrival. Unfortunately, the groups that had arrived were around the same age as our group, which lead the staff to believe we had instigated the whole thing. The staff attacked us with comments such as ‘you made that group chat didn’t you’ which we knew nothing about. We discussed with the staff multiple times that we had nothing to do with it and we just wanted a chilled time away. From then on, we were spoken down to, the staff were even swearing at us. We were kept awake the whole night as the party never ended. At about 5am we feared for our lives as one of the ravers decided to do donuts in his car while drunk and high on ketamine. All the other families/groups were refunded for the disturbance, except us. Surely we had it worse as the ravers were literally right next to us, but just because we are young we got treated differently. I should add that this campsite advertises for ‘youth’ and even uses pictures of teenage groups on their website. I believe this camp is a great place for groups as it is big enough to be far away from the families however the staff should regulate the amount of groups entering and keep a better record of who has paid. Overall, rude staff who forget whether you have paid or not, only nice if you are buying fire materials. The only person who was nice was the land owner himself, very polite and apologetic.

Badly run
  • 11 August 2019, 12:26:52

Lovely place with lovely scenery and nice walks, however staff ruined experience. My group and I decided to camp here when a festival we were going to was cancelled. Other people from the festival had also decided to stay here. At the end of the evening there was about 300 of us crammed into a field. Campsite was extremely noisy, music was blasting for majority of the night, no toilets near our field so people had to go to the toilet elsewhere (sometimes near our tent) people on drugs and staff accused our group multiple times during our stay of inviting everyone else. Badly run and completely out of control for the first night of our stay. Staff accused me of not paying when I had and failed to make other campers pay so had to kick hundred of them out in the morning. No reception and campsite needed a gate to stop people from just driving/walking in and setting up camp.

Nice setting rude staff!
  • 10 August 2019, 14:18:41

As a young group we felt quite singled out due to other young people who had NOTHING to do with us who were being loud and reckless and even after the other group left the manor they talked to us made us feel uncomfortable. They gave every one a refund apart from our group due to this large group and we feel like this was because of our age even though we paid a the same amount of money as everyone else who was staying here. So in summery it was a nice location however the staff seem high and are rude the majority of the time unless we are buying something of them like fire wood!

Perfect last minute local getaway!
  • 30 July 2019, 13:59:08

Thought Id try out a local non hookup site for a couple of nights to test out my new camper!. Couldn't have found a better site! Friendly and lots to do nearby. Website is easy to navigate and to be able to pay before is a real bonus. Ill definitely be returning :)

Birthday Camping Fun
  • 23 July 2019, 10:17:06

I booked out space for 40 of my freinds & family for my 50th. The guys at ACP were so great and helpful when our bell tents were put in the wrong field and even gave us a bag of free logs. It's a great site, you can spread out and have fun, have fires and enjoy yourself and it's such a beautiful setting with Alfriston village just round the corner.

Just perfect for my needs
  • 21 July 2019, 06:11:51

Booked this site for few weeks as working in area and wanted to have 'sort of holiday too' It was perfect for me ...would definitely use again .very happy visitor

Great spot, hopefully won't be spoiled!
  • 01 July 2019, 10:57:06

Great place, great surroundings that bring inner peace. Very friendly fellow campers and friendly staff that collects payment in the morning from guests. Showers and toilets were new last year and kept clean. it would help if visitors would make an effort to maintain them clean as well. Packing the rubbish tight so it can be dispose in the bins would help lots as they fill up and doesn't look that nice plus unnecessarily attracts rodents. It would help if people took their own rubbish away and be eco-friendly. Hopefully more has been done to keep rodents away from the bins area next to the toilets.

Such great people in charge!
  • 06 May 2019, 19:19:02

We have just returned from 3 nights at this wonderful campsite - bank holiday weekend so some normal very roudy folks but what CAN one do? - facilities clean and modern, showers great and the chaps in charge were quite delightful, helpful and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble. i hesitate in recommending this too highly or it will become too full up! We look forward to coming back soon!

Home from home
  • 25 April 2019, 17:36:44

Just reterned from our 5th/6th visit in just this past year, this campsite is now a home from home for us, the staff are great and always up for a chat and a laugh, facilitys are clean, and surroundings just perfect, we will be back again in a few more weeks with many more trips planned, thank you to all the team for giving us the chance to make memories :)

Beautiful Place
  • 24 April 2019, 22:10:35

Just spent the bank holiday weekend with family about 20 of us adults and children, have been a couple of times now and just want to say it’s such a beautiful place, lovely walks, scenery a few animals and Frank and his team are such lovely people, will always stop and chat and are always on hand if you need anything. Campsite itself is kept very clean and toilets and showers are always clean which for a campsite is very unusual. We all had a great time weather was gorgeous and can’t wait to go back, keep up the good work guys and will see you very soon xxx

Excellent trip
  • 23 April 2019, 20:10:54

Just returned from spending Easter at the campsite with all the family, kids thoroughly enjoyed it as so did the adults. All the staff are so helpful and nothing is too much. Facilities are great and are clean. We even had Charlie the ice cream man visit which was a extra bonus for the children. Can't wait till are next visit which won't be too far away. Keep up the great work guys.

Absolutely love it here, great for families and lads camping trips! My girls love coming here due to the amount of freedom they have and meeting other children.Very laid back and don’t over do rules like some places. They are also very welcoming and always go above and beyond for their guest. It’s our favourite place to camp. Ps Kevin (think I’ve got his name right) is a very lovey guy and very helpful! Keep up the good work guys!

Roll on March
  • 08 January 2019, 00:56:38

I came to Alfriston for my first camping experience towards the end of last season. As with a previous poster. I came for one night and stayed a week. Loved every second (nearly). Though not questio9ning the accuracy of other people's experiences. I was here over a busy bank holiday weekend and had no negative experiences regarding ovetflowing bins or standards of cleanliness in the toilet/shower block. Further, the washing up sectio isnot within the toilet building, it is without. Though covered by a rain canopy it is in essence an outdoor facility solely for washing up. Personal hygiene basins are located where they should be, in the toilet/shower block. I note that the management concede that somebody had a less than positive experience and they go on to state that they have taken appropriate remedial action. I guess they must have because, as previously stated, I pitched up late in the year and there were no issues regarding bins and showers. It was the first time I can remember that my grandson has been separated from something with a screen without suffering withdrawl symptoms. Staff were friendly and happy to help. Roll on March

A Free Spirit's Paradise
  • 19 September 2018, 00:30:28

I went for one night and stayed for seven! I came across so many different individuals and groups in those few days, proving a warm open-ness to all. I felt safe but free, and I experienced the facilities were always available when I needed them. They were included in the nightly fee, as was the parking, and were clean and well maintained. It seemed possible to camp as simply, or as glamorously as anyone could wish. The staff were welcoming, fun and friendly. I am grateful for this wonderful and affordable space. I hope it will always be available to all those who value it.

A fantastic few days by all
  • 08 August 2018, 20:30:51

Cheap, functional camping site very near to Eastbourne with staff that were friendly and helpful The campsite proved the perfect base for our visit to Eastbourne Extreme. It was close enought to drive to (8 miles from the city centre) and extremely reasonably priced at £8 a night. The toilets were kept in good condition and clean for the duration of our stay. Site staff were extremely helpful and flexible regarding arrival times and departure times. It was so enjoyable and well situated that one of my team mates took her child camping there the following weekend. My only quibble is that the number of showers to campers ratio meant there was a massive queue. Not a particular issue for us as we had already had a dip in the sea and had dry shower and baby wipes, but it may be something to consider for those who are staying longer. Be aware, pubs in the village stop serving food at 9 (so we used Just Eat to deliver pizza which worked out just fine!)

Excellent
  • 02 August 2018, 12:36:16

Camped for one night , it was just as camping should be lovely relaxed atmosphere, just turn up and pitch the tent. Facilities were basic but isn’t that what camping is about? Despite there being quite a lot of families with children, and dogs all was quiet by 10.30 pm. This was a birthday present from my son ‘ a mother and son weekend of walking and camping ‘ and it couldn’t have been better ( apart from the rain!)

Such a shame. Beautiful setting and so much potential with the tennis courts, valleys, and things to do and see nearby. Seems like the owners have fallen out of love with the place, facilities are dirty and not well thought out (eg washing up basins are in the toilets), not enough facilities for the people there, tennis courts run down and unusable, bins overflowing. Worth a visit if you’re not fussed about high standards just disappointing to see somewhere like this not being looked after.

I’ve been here twice now and Alfriston is my favourite camp site. Really friendly and helpful staff that couldn’t do more to help. The loos and showers are relatively new and clean and I like the fact that there are different sections to it (ie. a place for families, groups of friends, etc). Alfriston itself is a ‘museum village’, picture-perfect, lovely people, quaint English architecture and you can stroll along the Cuckmere river or up onto the Downs to soak up the peace and tranquillity of the area. Highly recommended. See you again soon!

Came on my own, one night with y hiking tent, nice camp view, but completely saturated due to extreme summer weather. Too many tents and cars. Very limited toilets and over full bins, Toilets and showers too small for the attendance creating queue and dirty shower block. As campsite rules are not in place, a group of 20 early 20th spent the evening drinking and the night making noise, speaking and singing loudly until 2 am without any control from campsite authority. Bad experience. ___________ ACP Reply Hi Christian I can tell you this, in your case I believe we screwed up, you had a poor experiance with us, we deserve a poor review from you. I can tell you this as well, we have many thousands of visitors and we sometimes get very busy, we run a public place and as such sometimes it is not easy to do everything we should. We know we give a good service and we also know we do our best to keep everyone happy and make the ACP camping experiance a good one. So from all at ACP we are sorry in your case and your Testimonial stays as a reminder to us at ACP we don't always get it right. Thank you that. Kevin

Hi Guys, just wanted to say again how much we loved staying with you a couple of weeks ago. you were amazingly accomodating of our teenagers' birthday gathering, and the freedom seemed to bring out the very best in them, not to mention their bbq skills! we parked up a little way away to keep an eye and loved it so much i have just booked again for the next bank holiday. keep on doing what you are doing, brilliant. bests, cadi PS Very happy to help - but slightly worried about too many people finding out about you
